I have never made them before, and this recipe I have calls for cream cheese. Sounds strange to me, what to you guys think? Is cream cheese a common ingredient in chicken enchiladas?
Yum ... Defininatly use the cream cheese =DIs cream cheese a common ingredient in chicken enchiladas?
I use cream cheese in them all the time. Add a can of dicd green chili peppers to the chicken and cream cheese mix. They are so simple and yummy to make.

I actually used to make this recipe as a spexcial at my mother in laws resturnat and they would just fly out the door.

Creamy chicken enchiladas:

1 pound boneless chicken breasts diced

1 8oz package cream cheese cut into cubes

Flour or corn tortillas

1 can diced green chili peppers

ground cumin

1 or 2 can green enchilada sauce

Shredded cheese

Cook the chicken in a skillet and when the chicken is done add the cream cheese, it will melt. As the cream cheese melts add the green chilis, and a couple of good dashes of cumin. Continue to heat on low until the cream cheese has melted.

Fill a tortilla with the chicken mix, roll and place in a baking dish, Continue until the chicken mix is gone. Top with the enchilada sauce and sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 350 for about 10-15 min or until the sauce is nice and hot and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
no not cream cheese. sour cream. i am mexican and i know my enchiladas.

and please dont make them in the oven. enchiladas that are made in the oven are not real enchiladas.

when you make them if you have left overs you can use them the next morning for a great breakfast. just heat them up, make an egg (not scrambles) and put it on top of them and it is so yummy its called ';enchiladas montadas';
Not common at all. If you google enchiladas with sour cream sauce you'll find a good recipe. I think it's at cooks.com
I've never heard of using cream cheese in enchiladas. Sour cream - yes, but not cream cheese.
No. I've never seen them made with cream cheese.
