Is the tara gum ingredient in breyers vanilla bean ice cream safe to eat?

I mean, can I eat a lot of the ice cream at once? What is tara gum and will it give me an upset stomach??Is the tara gum ingredient in breyers vanilla bean ice cream safe to eat?
Here is what the dailyscoop website folks have to say about tara gum in their products:

';Tara gum is a natural ingredient from the tara tree, a plant commonly found in South America and Africa. Studies have shown it to be safe for human consumption. New Zealand and Australia Food Standards approved it as did the World Health Organization. However, the results of these studies were not entirely positive, as tara gum is indigestible and causes various problems when consumed in high quantities (%26gt;5%) by rats and dogs. Though, most humans will not consume this amount of tara gum and should not have anything to worry about.....';

So, it sounds like unless you eat about 10 pounds of Breyers Ice Cream in one sitting, you should be okay. I haven't had Breyers since they added the tara gum, I'm now curious to see if I can detect any difference.
