What is caster sugar, which is an ingredient in an Ice Cream Recipe?

How is it differernent than confeccectioners sugar and where would I be able to find both of these items for purchase? What is caster sugar, which is an ingredient in an Ice Cream Recipe?
It's just white sugar that had been more refined so its very fine.

Confectioners sugar is white sugar so refined it becomes powder like.

You can purchase both from your local supermarket and they should be very close to each other.

Here in australia confectioners sugar is called icing mixture. What is caster sugar, which is an ingredient in an Ice Cream Recipe?
It is normal sugar that is crushed more finely so it disolves easier and quicker
All of the answers the others have said, but I make my own, it's very simple if you have a coffee grinder

Put some ordinary granulated sugar in the grinder and grind for a few seconds, this will give you a caster sugar. If you want icing sugar (or as you say confectioners sugar) grind a little longer and it will turn nice and white and fine. !.
