Is sour cream a usual ingredient in cheesecake/choc cheesecake?...thanks?

Sour cream as an ingredient that is not necessary, but it helps the cheesecake not dry out and shrink while baking in the oven.

The cheesecake will not crack as much, if used, but If you do not use the sour cream and the cake cracks, the fruit topping will cover the crevice and it will not be visible. With a chocolate cheesecake, the crack is harder to hide. unless you use whipping cream as a topping. Is sour cream a usual ingredient in cheesecake/choc cheesecake?...thanks?
Nope, they use that in regular new york style cheese cake all the time.Is sour cream a usual ingredient in cheesecake/choc cheesecake?...thanks?
